PORKULUS BILL
SPENDING IN DOUGLAS COUNTY AS OF 7-20-2009.
BACKGROUND. Early in 2009, Congress, following the lead of President Obama, passed a federal stimulus bill, commonly named the Porkulus Bill by conservatives. This legislation liberals in Congress promised would stimulate our state and national economies by both protecting current jobs and creating new ones. However, most of this largesse distributed to the states instead went to subsidize and expand existing welfare programs or to create new ones. The following list clearly shows that porkulus dollars funded precisely these and other wasteful expenditures in Douglas County, NE.
