NEBRASKA TAXPAYERS FOR FREEDOM WORKSHEET:

NET COST OF ILLEGAL ALIENS TO NEBRASKA TAXPAYERS.

BACKGROUND.  Nebraska liberals often argue that illegal aliens provide a net gain for Nebraska, supposedly because their labor and tax payments outpace taxpayer costs to subsidize them with education, health, and welfare benefits.  A revised February, 2011 study produced by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), titled The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers, shows irrefutable evidence that illegal immigrants cost far more to Nebraska taxpayers annually than what illegals pay into our economy.  See the chart below:

Illegal aliens cost each Nebraska household over $501 annually.[1]

According to the 2009-2010 NE Dept. of Education Annual Financial Report, NE public schools spent $34,741,800 in state and local funds on Limited English Proficiency Instructional programs, this figure not including federal funds that school districts spent on English language learners.  The data indicated 20,386 students in this category.

TAKE ACTION NOW.  Contact your state senator immediately and request that he/she support passage of legislation like LB 48, sponsored by State Sen. Charlie Janssen, a bill somewhat like one in Arizona, to curtail illegal immigration and offer many incentives for illegals to leave our state (see NTF issue paper).  Also, sign and circulate our NTF petition to state senators, demanding that they pass such legislation.  For petitions and/or contact information for your state senator, email netaxpayers@gmail.com.
