PETITION FOR REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES

Whereas the citizens of Omaha, Nebraska now carry a burden of heavy taxation yoked upon them by local government subdivisions; and

Whereas there exists in our economy a serious recession; and

Whereas the City of Omaha contemplates placing upon its citizens an additional property tax, additional sales tax, or a garbage collection tax, occupation tax, or entertainment tax; and

Whereas such additional tax would inflict a financial hardship upon such citizens, especially ones living on a limited income;

Therefore, we, the undersigned, respectfully request the Mayor and City Council Members of Omaha, Nebraska to not levy upon us any of the above increased taxes; and

That the above-mentioned public officials instead make cuts in the FY 2009-2010 city budget to fulfill necessary city financial obligations.
